Rikshospitalet, Oslo

This is a two-part decoration painted on MDF plates. The long painting decorates the vestibule in the orthopaedic section at the Children’s Clinic, Rikshospitalet (national hospital).

Here Gullvåg has immersed himself in the child’s imaginative approach and has created a magical fairytale landscape in which fantasy and reality overlap. Objects vacillate between being several things: for example, a car could just as well be an animal and a moon could just as well be an egg. Many stories are initiated, but with loose threads that encourage children to enter into the work and let their imagination run riot.
